"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

Watching the news always invites trouble in my heart and sadness. Hearing how the power of evil is spreading all around us and filling the world today. Starting the day with this attitude will allow the devil to attack us and test our faith by filling our mind with many thoughts and questions such as; why is there tribulations and suffering in the world?

Although there are many people suffering throughout the world we live in, we must believe that God can see and feel the sufferings of everyone. Yet He must allow it to happen for the good of all so that we learn to pray for each other, hold the hand of one another, give support and encouragement to all those suffering around us, and also grow together.

Eagerly looking forward to our ultimate goal which is to be with the one who love us all, in such a place who allow no more suffering but living in a place that full of peace, harmony, and love.

Reading the Holy Bible allows me to stumble on what St. Paul wrote:

"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).

This verse made me curious to know and read more about how to fight back and win the battle with courage. The people of the world fight back violence with another set of violence, but we as the children of God must use God’s weapons in order to fight against spiritual hosts of wickedness.

St. Paul goes on to say that we must use the whole armor of God, which is:

  • The belt of truth
  • The breastplate of righteousness
  • The feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace
  • The shield of faith
  • The helmet of Salvation
  • The sword of the spirit
  • The power of prayers

In order to digest all that, I thought, what does the soldier need to do in order to become one and be prepared to win any battle?

He needs all sorts of training before becoming a soldier. This will entail intensive training and many moment of suffering in order to turn a young man into a man with obedience, courage, overcoming fear, in control, and in charge of others.

As true Christians we must do exactly the same, for in order to become soldiers of God and wear the armor of God we must start training ourselves first to study the Holy Bible to be aware of God’s word to change our minds and hearts to better attitudes, to pray every chance we get, and to train our bodies to fast and submit. Then when we put on the armor of God we are full of knowledge, faith, obedience, and confidence that we will be able to win the toughest battle.

Satan will never stop and will never declare any defeats until the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appears. Therefore as Christians living in this world, we should put on the armor of God and go and search for the lost souls and share our faith with them, in order to bring them back to God.

How to use the armor of God?

  • Speak the truth from the heart and never lie or bend your message to accommodates others

  • Be righteous in the eyes of God by doing all things with a pure heart, love, and faith

  • Seek the poor and the needy in heart by walking the extra miles to reach them

  • Never lose faith no matter how grim the circumstances might be and trust that God is right on your side and He can do the impossible

  • Guard your mind with hope and faith through trials and discouragement

  • Remember that the word of God is powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword and it cuts into the heart to make the enemy vanish

  • Remember that the powers of prayer are mighty and amazing and will strengthen our faith through communicating with God and giving glory to him at all times.

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them" (Mark 11:24).

Certainly, there are many sorts of suffering in the world but we must free our heart, mind, and soul from all the distractions that attack us and cause our lives to turn upside down and make us full of fear and questions. We must look beyond that. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ defeated death in order to bring us life. Therefore we must dress ourselves with the armor of God at all times against the world today.
