Often times we commit to serving at church but lose motivation very soon in spite of our love for God and His house. What is the solution?

When one gets unmotivated in serving, one should seek God and his power through prayers. Praying strengthens our hope. A servant of God must allow God's grace to work within them in order to give them power and energize their motivation. There are so many specific Biblical examples that emphasize the power of prayer.

When St Peter walked on water, it was because he had faith in that mighty hand of Jesus that was stretched out for him. However, when he started to doubt, he fell and almost sank. He depended on his human nature and therefore could not continue the walk by his own power. He needed the Lord to work in him.

In the Old Testament Samson started to walk with God for some time but  did not continue. On his own, without God being central in his life, Samson lost his power. But when God's grace came back to him, he became a strong man again.

King Solomon began to walk with God. He built the Holy Temple and God even appeared to King Solomon two times. But even this wise man did not continue in God's way. He also lost his power and went astray. When God's grace came to him again though, he repented. The Book of the Song of Solomon is written by this king and is a Holy Book of Holy Love.

When we are less than motivated, when we go astray, when we need hope, it will do us all well to remember that the Holy Bible gives us many, many examples of the Lord Jesus giving True Hope to even the most impossible events in life. The Lord Jesus Christ raised Jairus’s daughter from the dead while she was still at home, the widow’s son at Nain died and the Lord raised him on the way. Lazarus died, was buried and stayed in the tomb four days, but the Lord Jesus Christ still raised him.

This is hope, and this is love. To live in hope is to continue in God's way. Keep these things close to your heart on those days in which you need motivation and allow God to work within you.

"They that HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings, they will run and not grow WEARY, walk and not grow FAINT" (Isaiah 40:31).
