If a couple hate each other and fight every day and abuse each other, is it not better to divorce than to stay in a relationship were they sin every day?

"'For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one's garment with violence,' says the Lord of hosts. 'Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.'" (Malachi 2:16).

A married couple existing in an ongoing adversarial environment need help, prayer, and counseling. Because their marriage has become dysfunctional, they need treatment, mediation, and advice about how to make it work. Divorce is not the solution. Having first assessed everyone's safety, we should offer the couple spiritual means and practical measures to help them reconcile and function with love, respect, and Christian principles.
