> Holy Book of Malachi
There are 2 questions in this category.
In Malachi Chapter 3:1, would the messenger he mentions be John the Baptist and in 4:5 be Elijah (the prophet that ascended to heaven in a chariot). Would he be the one that will come before the second coming of Christ?
While reading Malachi, I got stuck at the following verse: "
See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse
" (Malachi 4:5-6). Will this happen before the coming of Christ? Will Elijah (who I think is John the Baptist) remain on earth like a teacher training people to repent? or what exactly? Do you see in chapter 3 a reference to purgatory in which the Catholics believe?
