She
Heard Virgin Mary

He said that he used to have a co-worker, a lady who
was a fanatic protestant. She does not believe in any church sacrament or
saint. As a matter of fact she strongly
opposed any church tradition, including believing in intercession of saints,
especially, St. Mary.
My friend, who believes in evangelism, when he saw her
attitude, he never argued with her, believing that arguing with these fanatic
people is not only waste of time and energy but also ends every attempt of
trying to win the person over to the church.
So, he never argued with her, but from time to time he shared a bible
verse with her, showing her all respect that human being entailed to. Truly, we
need to respect all, no matter of their religion or faith or color or race,
since all men were created in His image.
At the same time he prayed for her, wishing that she would open her
heart to the richness of the mother church.
One day while she was praying, she heard a voice, a
human voice, calling her by her name and saying:
‘Why don’t you love me? I love you.’
The co-worker asked, ‘Who are you?’
The answer came in a tender voice that is full of
love and compassion:
‘I am the Virgin Mary, mother of Christ. Love me
as I love you.’
She was very disturbed. She never believed in Virgin
Mary, and now Virgin Mary coming to her house with love.
The voice was repeated twice.
Next morning she called him and said told him that she
is about to lose her mind. Then she
told him what she heard when she was praying.
She paused in silence for sometime and then she
asked him: ‘On what biblical basis do you support your belief in Virgin Mary?’
My friend started telling her about the great praise
by St. Mary when she visited St. Elizabeth, on which Virgin Mary said ‘From now
on all generation will call me blessed’ (Luke 1:47-55). Also, he remind her of
the intercession of Virgin Mary at the wedding of Cana, at a time when the
public service of the Lord had not started yet. However, in honor of His mother
He did what she asked him to do, a miracle (John 2:1-11). Also, he gave her a
book about the Orthodox faith.
Next morning she came to work very exhausted. She told him that she and her husband spent
the whole night reading in the book and crying, because the book answers every
question they both have.
Very soon after that, she said farewell to Protestantism,
and she started preparing herself to accept the baptism.
Saints support us in evangelism, they pray for the
salvation of the world too. Wouldn’t be a great idea if you start getting one
of the saints as your partner in evangelism.
